No, what we need is Trumpkastel.

Need to keep those illegal witches from crossing our southern border, so we need to build that wall.

Hello! My name is Vix, and Iā€™m a 23-year-old recent college graduate living in New Jersey, USA. As I was scrolling through reading the replies in this thread, it really struck me how many different people from different parts of the world are represented here! I think thatā€™s nearly as exciting as finding a really well-moderated forum for one of my favorite VN series.

I had a roommate in college who loved Higurashi, so when I was asking around for new games to play they eagerly recommended it to me. I read it and I loved it. I loved the close-knit group of Keiichi n Co, and how the story grew and unfolded and called back to itself in really interesting, gripping ways. About a year later I dug into the Umineko VN, and while I liked it it DID take me like six months to read, off and on, so I didnā€™t find it AS gripping. Iā€™m rereading Higurashi with the steam release right now, and plan to do so with Umineko as well. My favorite sprite sets for both are the PS3 versions.

I found Rokkenjima yesterday, by searching ā€˜higurashi discord serverā€™. Iā€™ve been looking for new, small-medium servers to join, and it directed me to make an account on here and so I did and then I went to sleep and then I woke up and now Iā€™m writing this post and - well, you know.

Other than 07th expansion, I love VNs in general (both from japan and the really nice english-based indie crop thatā€™s flourishing on steam, like ebi-hime and Love Conquers All games) as well as other puzzle games, walking simulators, point and clicks, hidden object games, exploration games, RPGS, JRPGs etc. Iā€™m a proud achievement whore and Iā€™m working toward raising my steam percentage as high as it can go! Iā€™m tsupertsundere on there, too, so feel free to friend me. I love reading books and have three cats and a dog.

Bonus Question: Why did the cowboy get a dachshund?
Because he wanted to get a long little doggy. ( c; )

Hey everyone~ My name is Megan and Iā€™m from the UK.

Visual Novel wise Iā€™ve read through Umineko and Higanbana and Iā€™m currently reading Higurashi now although I watched the anime a good 7-8 years ago now. I did want to read Higurashi a long time ago but when I last looked I think only a few arcs were translated and they didnā€™t bother doing the rest because of the mangagamer release.

Although itā€™s not really considered Ryukishi07ā€™s work Iā€™m also trying to read Rewrite, Iā€™m looking forward to his route!
Iwaihime and Trianthology canā€™t be translated soon enough, I hope a translator picks it up as Iā€™m dying to read them.
I tried to read through Rose Gun Days but unfortunately for me itā€™s just not my thing although I will give it another go one day.

Iā€™ve also read through a lot of the Higurashi and Higanbana manga and Iā€™m slowly going through Uminekoā€™s as well.

How I got into Higurashi is a mystery to me tbh, I actually hate gore and blood in real life movies, I suppose I though I could handle animated rather than real people to which some extent I can (not something Corpse Party though, I did try ;w;) Ookami Kakushi came out which was ā€¦ pretty good I suppose and then of course Umineko came along which I thought was amazing at the time, haha.

As for my favouritesā€¦ Higurashi is probably my favourite anime, and Umineko is my favourite VN.

I found Rokkenjima through google I think? I just never thought there would be a forum dedicated to this so I never bothered to look for it, but ā€¦ I wish I looked a long time ago now, heh. > w<

My interests oustide of 07thExpansion areā€¦ figure/merch collecting, Visual Novels (although I havenā€™t read that many tbhā€¦), Harry Potter, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and of course anime/manga.

Or make your own, but be careful, as it will be removed if a relevant thread already exists. If you have any questions otherwise, feel free to ask! Enjoy your stayā€¦ we have plenty of tea.

Just keep in mind that youā€™ll need to get Witch rank before you can make new topics. In the meantime, feel free to post in any pre-existing topics; just use that search button up the top!

Ahh, how exciting this is! Hello everyone, Iā€™m Bess (though youā€™re free to call me Rika too :mii:). Iā€™m 19, from London, living in France right now. I became a fan of When They Cry way back about 10 years ago when I watched the Higurashi anime. Itā€™s pretty much been my favourite thing ever since. I watched the Umineko anime when it aired and I recently got around to playing Umineko over a few years haha. As a writer and literary enthusiast, I wholeheartedly consider it the greatest work of its kind Iā€™ve ever experienced. Iā€™ve been playing Higurashi and reading the manga very slowly and dove right back in when I heard the new game was announced. When They Cry means the absolute world to me, itā€™s the best news I ever couldā€™ve hoped for. What a delight it is to find this community now! Iā€™m in dire need of some friends who love this series and canā€™t wait to experience the new installment with everyone.

A little more about me: since watching Higurashi, Rika has always unwaveringly been my favourite fictional character of all time. Despite what I said about Umineko, I couldnā€™t chose a favourite between the two, and Higurashi has deep personal meaning to me. Dare I say itā€™s part of the reason Iā€™m aspiring to become a forensic psychologist. I should be studying Psychology back in the UK come autumn. Besides that, I love - as I mentioned - writing, Ace Attorney and K-Pop. Besides Rika, my favourite WTC characters are Keiichi, Mion, Will, Lion and Ange!

Nice to meet you all! And big thanks to everyone involved in the creation this long-overdue community.

EDIT: Oops, hope this is okay, forgot to say my Twitter is @grlgroups and my tumblr, furudes. Always happy to make friends over on those sites, too!

Welcome to Rokkenjima :gohda:

Itā€™s always fun to have new people join to talk about the amazing stories that are When They Cry and I hope youā€™ll enjoy your stay here!
Feel free to join in on discussions about, well, pretty much anything and follow as our new readers try to break through the mysteries of Hinamizawa and Rokkenjima while we veterans sit on the sidelines with popcorn. Itā€™s a ton of fun :cackle: (though itā€™s a bit quiet right now when we are between releases, hopefully itā€™ll start up again soon)

Also do note, as Aspirety mentioned above, that you wonā€™t be able to create any new topics until youā€™ve reached Witch-rank. But the meantime feel free to post in preexisting topics, just scroll down or use the search function and you should be able to find something interesting.

Hello there Rika! Welcome to Rokkenjima, I hope you enjoy your time here with us. Youā€™ll find many who love WTC here, so youā€™ve chosen the perfect place to find friends and people who also love it too (like myself).

A few things you could do, look around through the threads, even old ones, and post in them, thereā€™s plenty of them you can post in so we can get to know about you a bit more, and what you think of the WTC works.
Also, if you have discord, youā€™d be very welcome on our discord channel, just put a post in the thread following the format, and you should be good to go with the instructions there.

I hope your psychology studies go well, being a physics student myselfā€¦ I couldnā€™t wrap my head around the other sciences very well :sweating:.

And damnit @EternalMagician, you beat me to itā€¦ yes, once youā€™ve posted and read enough youā€™ll read Witch rank, where you can post yourself. Also make sure to read the rules, especially on spoilers. Otherwise, welcome to the tea party!

Hmm, letā€™s seeā€¦ Hello, everyone my name is Danila (Itā€™s a male name in case anybody is wondering). Iā€™m 18 and live in Vladivostok, Russia. The climate in my city is very similar to Japan and itā€™s near the sea, so there is a lot of seagulls!
Iā€™m a first-year student studying Japanese language and culture and Iā€™m hoping to read 07th works in Japanese sometime in the future.

Iā€™ve read all of Higurashi a couple of months ago and then watched an anime adaptation just for voice acting and to see how they handle it. Itā€™s not really usual for me to fanboy so much about something, but I fell in love with the series right away. Then I took a short break and read Umineko which I loved at least just as much. Both stories mean a lot to me personally since my thoughts are constantly occupied by the world and characters Ryukishi07 brought to life. I honestly donā€™t know which of the novels I love more since they are quite different despite having similar structures. Higurashi might have affected me more on the emotional level, but Umineko is just so unique and intelligent and the mystery was even more awesome, so letā€™s just say that I love Ryukishiā€™s writing, hehe.

Iā€™m hoping to make some new friends in this community since not a lot of people I know are insane enough to read such long and complicated works, although I did manage to get a fellow student of mine to read Higurashi. Now I can sneer at his futile attempts to solve the mystery cackle cackle.
I discovered the site while googling for some discussions on the novels and decided to try to fit in, letā€™s see how it goes! (By the way, Iā€™m not a native English speaker so there might be some mistakes, especially with punctuation.)
Outside of the 07th Expansion, Iā€™m actually interested in many things. Iā€™m an avid movie buff, really big fan of different kinds of music (primarily rock) and Iā€™m a bass player, though a pretty bad one sigh. Iā€™m obviously interested in anime and Japanese culture in general and I also love comic books, even used to order some from America before our currency dropped.
Okay, I think Iā€™ve said enough. Hope I will not be a burden to this community!
