It’s come to the attention of the mod team that there is a growing problem of disrespectful conduct taking place in the context of Gameboards. Many of these Gameboards are quite competitive in nature, and it’s not uncommon for our the atmosphere to become very heated and confrontational in these situations. We understand that a little bit of playful banter is can help get people more invested in a game.

However, the competitive nature of Gameboards is no justification for blatantly disrespectful treatment of fellow members. We have witnessed members being personally attacked with very aggressive language in these Gameboards, all due to their gameplay, and worse still is the fact that few people are thinking of it as a problem that should be raised to the attention of the moderators. Game Masters and fellow participants share a burden of responsibility to speak up when they see anything that might be construed as harassment, otherwise such disrespectful behaviour will remain enabled and unchecked. This is true of the entire community, not just Gameboards: never be afraid to speak up when you see problematic behaviour. Ours is a community which must learn to moderate itself in the absence of any authority figures, so please make use of the flagging feature to hide and notify the staff of problematic content.

Participants of Gameboards, please always think twice about how your words could be interpreted as aggressive or hurtful before posting them. Even if you’re roleplaying, there is no justification for verbal harassment. Banter is acceptable as long as it’s understood by all parties as playful and harmless. If you say something which may be construed as harassment, you must be prepared to face a strike and suspension from the forum for a time.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation guys. Let’s continue to work hard to make Rokkenjima an inclusive and friendly environment that everyone can enjoy comfortably.
