Banshee's Last Cry (Vita Remake) - (Spike Chunsoft + Ryukishi07!)

I was surprised to see there wasn’t a thread for Banshee’s Last Cry anywhere! So, basically Ryukishi07 is a scenario writer for the new Kamaitachi no yoru remake, which is kind of a big deal because, if I’m remembering correctly, it’s one of the games that pioneered the Sound Novel genre and was a huge inspiration to Ryukishi. Since there’s already an official translation for iOS, does anyone think the chances are good for the game to come out in America too? After all, Chunsoft’s pretty good about this kinda stuff (we’re getting 428!) and the Vita has a pretty decent number of localized VNs.

I’ve never heard of Banshee’s Last Cry until now, but it’s giving me some serious Higurashi vibes.

Banshee’s Last Cry is a thrilling visual novel that takes readers on a deadly thrill ride of murder and deception. Set in a snowed in hotel lodge during Christmas, vacationers find themselves caught up in a murderous “whodunit” game when someone winds up dead. Local legend tells of a banshee whose screams can rip through flesh, but, is the killer really a deadly monster or the work of a madman?

Wait, so this story has a premise set in a location they can’t escape easily, a whodunit murder mystery, and a local legend gift-wrapped with the premise of Curse/Witch or Human?

I hadn’t heard of Banshee’s Last Cry before, but it sounds pretty intriguing. Since I was already thinking about maybe buying a Vita for Danganronpa V3 when it hits Europe later this year since there’s been no news of a PC release for that one, something like Banshee’s Last Cry coming to the Vita as well would justify the purchase a bit better.

…This is a bit off topic, but @MrDent mentioned that the Vita has a pretty decent number of localized VNs; if anyone has a mystery VN or two to recommend for the system, I’d be happy.

Actually, at least in America, Danganronpa V3 hits Steam the same day it comes out on consoles.

As for mystery VNs on Vita in English- I haven’t played it myself yet, but Root Letter looks gorgeous. (Not to be confused with Root Double which is also supposed to come out on Vita in English at some point.)

That actually sounds a bit like Umineko. I can see how this influenced Ryukishi.

Yeah, that was my first impressions of this story, but after looking into it a bit more, I realized that it reminded me of Umineko more than Higurashi after looking it up online. To be specific,from what I’ve seen, it has a Legend of the Golden Witch-like approach with absolutely no logic battles and Red Truth (sadly).

I’ll miss the logic battles, but this sounds incredibly based regardless. Hope it gets translated or an official release.

Sounds amazing, didn’t know Ryukishi was involved with the remake! That said, I doubt it’ll be coming over anytime soon. Spike Chunsoft’s English twitter account held a poll a while back and this game got the least votes by far (8% or something). So I wouldn’t count on it coming over.
