Can we get like an onomatopoeia for this sound because just ‘not thunder’ isn’t very descriptive.

To clarify, it sounded like a gun firing. Likely a handgun of some kind.
I would like to find Battler and ask him a question…
“Battler if I may bother you a moment, after our encounter in the study I didn’t see Hachijou again until that we saw her in that horrible tree. By chance did you have an opportunity to speak with her again after that meeting?”

I’d like to use my last investigation point to speak with Rosa:
“My dear Rosa, how have you been doing? I apologize for not speaking with you in a while, even though I quite enjoy your daughter’s company. I can imagine this ordeal would be the hardest on you; Hachijou was your family after all. I can only hope that you were on good terms with her before all this happened. I’m sure that would have been best for the both of you.”

「Oh my, thank you for your concern. It has been troubling, but we are all holding in there…」
Shannon probably isn’t too concerned about her future, since she’s hired through an agency but… Kanon is different. He lives here, on this island.
「I hope Kanon-kun will be fine…」 she says in a voice that’s nearly inaudible.
【Rosa】
「That’s just fine, Pepe-san. I’m very happy that she has someone she can play with here. Oh, I should say that she has people she can play with here. You’ll have to thank your boy for me; Maria gets along with him well.」
Rosa pauses for a second.
「Why did it have to turn out this way? Why… ?」 she says in a quiet voice.
It looks like her eyes are beginning to well with tears. She regains her composure after a moment, dismissing what she said earlier.
「Thank you for considering us… I do wish that my husband (@Karifean) would have gotten along better with her. You can never expect things like this to happen.」
A small smile manages to make its way to her face. It’s probably hard for her at a time like this.

Shannon pauses, thinking about what to say.
「You see, I’m not a permanent resident of this island. Hachijo hired me through the company I work for, but… Kanon-kun is different. He was employed full-time here. I don’t know what he’ll do now…」
It took me much longer to get back than I had originally anticipated… Anyhow…

"Okay, let’s get the important question out of the way first. Has anybody come across Hachijo’s corpse?
Shannon-san, do you have a trash chute or incinerator on mansion grounds?"

「Yes. There is an incinerator out back.」
(She’s referring to the north area between the mansion and the garden. It can be viewed/investigated by going to the garden.)
「No, but we found something…uh…better(?). Anyway, to the north there’s a hidden tunnel seemingly leading back to the basement. We spent a lot of time before finding the entrance in the cliff-face, so we went back without exploring it fully. There was also dried blood on the rocks. I’m kinda starting to freak out about this.」

“A quick word, if I may. I had been discussing with Rosa earlier, as you may all know, and she seems to have regretted you not getting along with her sister very well. While it may or may not help with this matter much, it has piqued my curiosity. What, pray tell, had the matter been between you two?”
“It’s fine, I expected this question to come up sooner or later. Rest assured, it’s nothing too relevant. I just didn’t get along well with her personally. Regardless, she was still my wife’s sister; to preserve a generally positive atmosphere I simply didn’t interact with her more than necessary.” I give @Pepe a wry smile. “Sorry if you hoped for more of a clue. Now that it has come to this I regret not building up a better relationship with her.”
I contemplate the meaning behind what @HeliosAlpha found, but decide to bring up another point first.
“There’s something that’s been bothering me for a while now, and I’d like it cleared up as soon as possible. If it’s something trivial I’ve overlooked, I apologize. Remember back to when we first discovered that woman’s dead body in the tree. All of us were in the dining hall at the time. And yet if you remember, the reason we went to the tree in the first place - and ended up finding the body as a result - was because we heard a loud noise that didn’t sound like thunder. Seeing as how all of us were here, what was it that caused that sound?”
Ah right thanks, forgot about that. Unfortunately, that still leaves us with a mystery. “If all of us were accounted for, then who fired the gun?”

“Lest the reason be some unknown contraption, there are two more possibilities… Either there’s somebody we do not know was on the island at the time, causing the sound…” I feel my next words may have a bigger impact than I wish them to. I sigh. “… or…” My eyes dart around, evidently seeking somebody’s gaze. “…never mind, there is something else I want to clear up first.”
My eyes do not rest on anybody, but their expression is far less hostile than before. “Battler, Aulin, Karifean and ghagler- there is a window in Hachijo’s office viewing the tree, is there not? Could Hachijo have been shot from there? Did you find anything that could, in any way, pertain to the existence of such a trap or mechanism?”
Immediately after, I beckon to Shannon. “Shannon-san, how often did you clean up Hachijo’s office?”
