Considering that in a few months time, it will be only be 10 years since Umineko was released and 15th years since Higurashi was dropped, I thought that it would prudent to create a thread where the entire community can get together and plan what sort of things they want to do for the website in order to commemorate August 17, and August 10.
If it helps, I thought that having an essay contest about analyzing different topics and how they connect to Higurashi/Umineko (or the whole WtC series) would be interesting.
Edit: I’ve thought up some possible topics:
Umineko and Christianity
Higurashi and Shintoism
The uniqueness of When they Cry in the mystery genre
The multiple meanings of love in Umineko
The multiple meanings of Forgiveness in Higurashi
Collage titled Rokkenjima sings Ricordando Il Passato. Basically, we’ll all sing the song, we’ll record it ourselves, someone will mix them together and put it up somewhere.
On a personal level, I just want to have played Meakashi by then. ;_;
We’ve been doing group choruses on Kazamatsuri for a while, and they’re always heaps of fun! The only problem is finding someone willing to mix them, it can be a bit of a chore
A project I’ve wanted to do for a while has been a 07th Expansion video retrospective. Just like a short documentary on YouTube. I might get around to doing it, although it is sometimes hard to research 07th Expansion related stuff because there’s simply so much of it, and a lot of it never made it overseas. I know basically nothing about the trading card games Ryukishi’s made.
As for spoilers- I think it might have to, just to talk about the controversy over Umineko’s ending and the subsequent changes in the manga adaptation. That said, it would probably be easy to create separate videos to talk about the different eras in 07th Expansion’s history.
So…its been a while since anyone commented on this topic and I’d like to post an update.
March will be over in a few days, and then April will be upon us, meaning that we will only have four months to plan what we’ll do for the When they Cry anniversary.
I don’t mean to rush you guys, but hopefully we can get something decided before the end of April?
Not really the kind of update you were looking for, but me and my friends are trying to organize a When They Cry panel at our local convention this August. I’ll probably do a vocal presentation more or less the same as the video series I was planning, so I’m definitely going to start researching.
(Of course, I’m definitely going to shill Rokkenjima to everyone who shows up~)
