The second half with battler spinning chessboards till he’s dizzy and talking to his dead parents was waaay too long. When we were recording this I kept thinking “this is when the chapter ends and battler resolves to fight the witch” but it just kept on going. At least we get Eva for some clever banter and Natsuhi gets her ‘big fucking gun’ moment.
Ep3 spoilers: One of the other things that bugs me is why we aren’t explicitly notified of the at least 3 other guns which are available to the remaining victims. If Ep3 is to be believed they’re just lying around but there’s no mention of them in this chapter. All it would really take is Natsuhi saying “I don’t trust you so no one else gets a gun” and then taking possession of the key to the gun room, wherever that is. Is it Kinzo’s room? I don’t actually recall.
EDIT: Also, I’m finding it interesting that Felix seems pretty suspicious of Doctor Nanjo but hasn’t tried explicitly to tie him into the murder (yet) i wonder what it would take for him to form a Nanjo culprit theory? Maybe it’s the dress, I imagine Nanjo in Beatrice’s dress wouldn’t be a pretty sight.
