Aw man, there’s so much great stuff in this part. Kyrie is smug as always, (general series spoilers) she’s foreshadowing so hard the entire conversation, and everything she says is 100% correct. The comment on romance novels being more complex than mystery novels is particularly amusing we also get a closer look at Krauss and Natsuhi’s relationship, my compassion for Natsuhi pulls at my heartstrings. Natsuhi is super underappreciated by the rest of the household and i just can’t handle it. Poor sweet baby Natsuhi. 
(Ep4 spoilers): BUT SHE KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT KINZO AAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH.
I can see why she believes in the ghost of Kinzo so fully, she’s part of the conspiracy to keep him alive, something incredibly important to Krauss and yet he shows no gratitude and stomps on her own dignity in front of the whole family conference. Natsuhi is in dire need of emotional support and she’s just not getting it from anyone. It made me so happy when she genuinely connected with Jessica for a scene.

Yeah, turn over definitely seems to work on a vertical access in my head. Oh God I just remembered I did an essay on the semantics of the word over and this came up there.

This is my favourite Youtube series right now.
But man, Battler sure rambles this episode. This chapter of the VN is definitely some of the biggest fat that deserved to be trimmed in future adaptations. He just keeps going on and on about stuff we already know and taking a million years to form the next logical conclusion.

The second half with battler spinning chessboards till he’s dizzy and talking to his dead parents was waaay too long. When we were recording this I kept thinking “this is when the chapter ends and battler resolves to fight the witch” but it just kept on going. At least we get Eva for some clever banter and Natsuhi gets her ‘big fucking gun’ moment.
Ep3 spoilers: One of the other things that bugs me is why we aren’t explicitly notified of the at least 3 other guns which are available to the remaining victims. If Ep3 is to be believed they’re just lying around but there’s no mention of them in this chapter. All it would really take is Natsuhi saying “I don’t trust you so no one else gets a gun” and then taking possession of the key to the gun room, wherever that is. Is it Kinzo’s room? I don’t actually recall.
EDIT: Also, I’m finding it interesting that Felix seems pretty suspicious of Doctor Nanjo but hasn’t tried explicitly to tie him into the murder (yet) i wonder what it would take for him to form a Nanjo culprit theory? Maybe it’s the dress, I imagine Nanjo in Beatrice’s dress wouldn’t be a pretty sight.
I love how he just kept trying to figure out what the heck Maria was saying the whole time.

Maria is nothing if not a confusingly verbose 9 year old. Sometimes (but not all the time).
For those interested, the magic circle shown here is the seventh pentacle of the Sun as laid out in the magic grimoire ‘the Key of Solomon’. I found a translator’s note on its exact function:
‘If any be by chance imprisoned or detained in fetters of iron, at the presence of this pentacle, which should be engraved in Gold on the day and hour of the Sun, he will be immediately delivered and set at liberty’
The other pentacles might be worth looking at.

I absolutely loved recording this episode. We’ve gotten over the initial shock of the first twilight and get really into the conflict with the culprit. Eva and Hideyoshi’s tender moment together and Kanon’s monologue were scenes i had been waiting for for a while.
Oh boy that’s a lot of different spoilers to respond to I’m glad we provoked so many different trains of thought
Ep7 spoilers I wouldn’t be surprised, I wonder if this is one of those ‘treasure chests’ Ryukishi keeps going on about?
full series spoilers this combined with his earlier joke about Shannon and Kanon being the same person leads me to believe he’ll figure it out by the end of Ep4. I just hope the misdirection isn’t too strong for him.
and finally, Ep4 spoilers Heck yes. Felix fully expects every named character so far to pop up at some point later… we better not disappoint also, he’s voicing her if I have anything to say about it.
Also, YES I had resolved that at that moment I absolutely must shout Beatrice’s true name as loud as possible. Damn did it feel good.

Yeah I’d like to just be shouting the entire time but a) that would destroy our mic levels and b) I would have to stop every five minutes to recover. I try to peak at scenes which I particularly care about.
