Ooh, a Pokémon topic! So first, all those questions:
What is your favorite Pokémon and why?
I usually answer ‘Pikachu’ to this question but to be honest, that’s kinda just to have an answer nowadays. And thinking about it again is a daunting task, what with 801 Pokémon now existing.
What is your favorite main series or spin-off game?
For main series, Pokémon Sun and Moon, the story blew me away.
For spin-off, I actually quite enjoyed watching TV with Pikachu, also known as Pokémon Channel, but that’s not my favorite. My favorite would be Pokémon XD, with Coliseum being the close second. Also, Mirror B (and his themes) from those games is the best character. Another spin-off game I like to come back to is the Pokémon Trading Card game for the GBC.
What is your favorite generation and why?
I don’t really favor one gen’s Pokémon over the other, I can only say it’s not gen 5, but only because I didn’t play Pokémon during that generation and thus have not a huge connection to it.
What is your favorite starter?
Greninja, because Ninjas are cool. Maybe we get a pirate starter at some point for the ultimate showdown
dream team and Pokémon Showdown
I’m not really a competitive player. Only thing I did was copy one team in gen 6 from a video introducing people into the competitive scene, and all that time spend breeding is just too much time investment and too dull gameplay for my liking.
Have you played any fan games?
I read Let’s Plays of both moemon leafgreen and touhoumon, does that count? And I also played other monster collect type of games.
Are you hyped for gen 7?
Well, I liked gen 7, but there’s also a few things I don’t like about it, mainly that grinding to level 100 is very tedious and that there isn’t (yet?) a national dex.
Do you nickname your Pokémon?
I started to nickname every Legendary I caught myself and planned on keeping starting from gen 6 and am usually trying to come up with general themes for legendaries of the same group (i.e. naming the lake trio after another trio, in this case the three goddesses from Zelda lore). Thanks to that, I often ask my mom if she can nickname spare Legendaries only she can get and can give away to me. Otherwise, I’m a purist and don’t really nickname any other Pokémon most of the time.
Pokémon Go?
I’m way too lazy to actually go out to collect Pokémon if I can do the same thing with the main games, so I’m not playing Pokémon Go.
EDIT:
So I’m finally continuing my Pokémon Platin playthrough, mainly to get some legendaries over to the most recent generation (gen 4 to gen 5 is still possible, right?) and I ventured into this game’s game corner/casino/arcade. Which was censored in the German version because it would otherwise go against child safety (because it would promote gambling). Coins are still a thing in that game, you just find some randomly by checking the slot machines. Or buying them outright.
That got me to thinking: In which countries was that stuff censored as well and when did Nintendo start to just get rid of game corners and casinos and the like in general? I mean, I faintly remember that Heartgold/Soulsilver had Voltorb Flip as an alternative, but what did the gen 5 games do? As I stopped playing Pokémon during that generation, I don’t know myself.
