Today on Rokkenjima, Behind the MusicâŚ
In the history of witch feuds, the grudge between Beatrice and Bernkastle is rather infamous. Although it really came to a head in Chiru, as early as the Question arcs, Beatrice enlisted her ally MARIA in a blatant declaration of war against the witch of miracles. This song is outright savage and sows the wind of later events quite thoroughly. The insults start right from the very beginning of the first verse.
Beato:
My witch is a golden dreamer
A magical god of woo!
Beato and Maria:
Locked in the palms of creatures
A bloody and slim thin mold!
Beato opens up with an outright denial of Bernkastleâs powers, mockingly calling her a âgodâ of woo and tricks. The reference to the palms of creatures refers to the many bad ends Bernkastle received in her prior game with Lambda Delta, and the slim thin mold, well, once youâve made the connection to Bernkastleâs origin it shouldnât be hard to realize what is being referred to if you are familliar with the source material.
Beato:
Witness, golden dreamer!
with magical GoatDa Chef!
These lines represent the earliest currently known reference to the magical cullinary powers of GoatDaTrice. Beatrice is making a straight-forward claim that she can and will deliver a stupendous display of magical talent, and will even do so at a professionally catered event.
B & M: Iâve got crystal for ya
B: with magical beating heart.
This is a direct threat. Magical crystals of various colors are the most commonly employed magical projectile attacks on Beatriceâs game boards. No subtle reference here, itâs just as if a gangsta-rapper boasted of the size of their gun collection. The reference to a magical beating heart is a reminder that any retaliation Bernkastle could hope to make is doomed to failure, because Beatrice is endless. Her heart magically beats on no matter what trauma Bernkastle or her cats could try to respnd with.
M: In a growing panic, the very hairy see (that)
B: We go, breaking the darkness! Golden dream!
With ten tons of it in a pile, Beatrice and Maria are definitely living a golden dream. With that much money Beatrice and Maria are confident they can shatter any witchâs darkness that Bernkastle might try to use for her own ends. Maria doesnât even acknowledge Bernkastle by name, simply calling her âthe very hairyâ. Because cats have fur. Very hairy indeed. Not the most cutting of lines but the sting of literal truth to it gives it some weight here.
M: Yo, buster crazy! The very hairy view
B: In a word, my feelings,
B&M: My bokken, Iâm a show!
For those not aware, a Bokken is a Japanese training sword. Bernkastel is denigrated as a crazy buster, and both Beatrice and Maria proclaim their intention to draw blades, not even properly sharpened blades but training blades, and use them to violently display their feelings towards Bernkastel.
Mariaâs sinister, mocking giggle and the next three verses are just overkill at this point. Everything Beatrice and Maria came to say was delivered in the first 45 seconds of this epic dis track.
