Welcome back everyone! You’re probably pretty exhausted by now, but we’re close to the finish line! This is the second to last day, so give it your all once more! Well, for today, I introduce the following event:
When They Cry 5 Concepts
Your task is simple: Introduce to us a concept that could show up in the new WTC game. Said concept may either be something truly great or you may choose to present to us the worst possible idea ever and try to win this competition with a silly submission. Please try to not copy one of the ideas already present in the WTC5 thread, and keep your submission at a maximum length of 3 paragraphs.
Like always, 4 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd and 4th, and 1 for late submissions.
The deadline for submissions is Saturday, 11:30 am UTC .
Team Goldenslaughterers submission:
WTC5 Concept: When the Hashibuto (Jungle Crows) Cry
WTC5 will take place in an “open world” - and this means the entirety of the physical, and spiritual Universe. The physical world being the “gameboards” and the spiritual worlds being the “meta-world”.
We are first introduced to the Haworthia group of characters – and we find out they are a group of characters who live between Earth, and the outer space beyond our solar system. We are then introduced to the humans who live on Earth. And finally, the last group of characters for the gameboard scenes will be those of outer space beyond our solar system. The Haworthia group of characters are the “threshold” characters between Earth and outer space. They are the “balance” so to speak of the more technologically inclined humans vs the aliens which live in harmony with their natural planets and space. This is why Haworthia is named after the succulent plant, showing despite being in an advanced setting, they are close to nature, striking that balance. Their space station is also very eco-friendly and contains gardens and biospheres.
The Earth characters are advancing cities so far that there is rarely any nature left. The Earth setting will be many cities around the planet, but the main group will be in Japan. In WTC5’s Japan, even the rural areas have become megacities and the once forests around shrines now are only concrete. Iconic scenes will include be the Jungle Crow’s distinctive laughing caw, that mock the main characters for the unlivable society they have to deal with, and they get the sense that, if they cannot survive, nature will reclaim everything they have built. This eventually happens with a huge solar flare, and the only building with electricity ends up being a small Kumano shrine (to the deity Yatagarasu, the three legged Jungle crow) tucked deep in the cityscape, thus leading the Earth characters in Japan to try and find balance between technology and nature. They involve the other cities and people around the world via the internet which they can only connect to at the shrine, and the other characters can only connect to via mysterious means which is explored later in the story.
Finally, the last characters are the alien group of characters, living far off in a kind of utopian societies in space, wanting nothing to do with humans or our planet, seeing how far it’s ruined by technology. The meta world scenes then focuses on Yatagarasu as a character, the voyager witches, and the deities of the alien characters. Yatagarasu, despite hating humans, wants them to learn their lesson and restore Earth’s nature, while the other deities of the aliens mock Yatagarasu, betting it is not possible and they will die out before they can, and keep telling Yatagarasu the easiest way is to let them all die. Yatagarasu, despite hating humans, also wants them to try and fix what they started, leading to exploration of complicated emotions, and the struggle between technology and nature, and finding a balance. The voyager witches are there to observe and relieve their boredom…but may even intervene themselves via the Haworthia group of characters as their pieces…
Team SleepingVerborum and RKW Berris submission:
Alright, let me pitch this to you, 13 super cool and/or cute characters, lined up at the start of the day. Then, they start to drop off one by one… first Fish-kun is found filleted, then the proud Broccoli family stripped of their heads! Breadu-sama is torn apart before our very eyes! and once every single one of them is chopped, fried, gouged, and laid out on the chopping board… it starts again.
Welcome to When the Ingredients Cry! Over eight episodes we follow an ever-growing cast of soon-to-be food products and their struggles to survive against the mysterious forces that would turn their insides out and serve them for dinner!
Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten the one thing that makes WTC so incredibly special, the positive message of this installment will be that of a varied diet! We hope to represent even the lowly Nut-san in this story and show you that even the smallest of foods has the biggest heart! I look forward to seeing you all… in the dining hall! Goodnight!

Team 5 Elements of DESIRE submission:
WTC 5 will tell the story of an alien invasion taking place on Earth after it was devastated by World War III, Haworthia is the alien queen and she is the one who’s going to put out a trial for the remaining humans to see if they’re worth living or not. The novel will revolve around the struggles of the Yumemi sisters in different stages of the trial, and will bring up topics such as global warming, exploration of Earth’s natural resources, animal extinction, and pretty much everything there is about environmental preservation and how the humans ended up destroying their planet little by little in the name of greed.
Team Goatdatricers late submission:
For my idea for WTC 5 would go with a detective noir, although one with a supernatural twist. A private detective agrees to help a woman out with some strange happenings and murders occuring at a company-building in the middle of the city that the police has given up on ever solving. The building was recently finished and had been controversial from being put up right over several old shrines. So when the murders and troubles began rumors started stirring of the spirits themselves being the ones behind the happenings and murders.
But then during the investigation he is suddenly killed, seemingly by something supernatural, and when he comes to he is once again sitting in his office when the femme fatale comes in, just like she did before. However this time he refuses her request but is drawn into the case again by an accuaitance where he is once again killed.
This time he realizes that he is inside a loop. But because of that he also realizes that the city around him is crumbling more and more after each loop. And every time more and more people disappearing without a trace or being permanently killed. Now he not only has to find out what is happening inside the city but he also has to do it before the city is being destroyed. All the while the case get’s more and more difficult to solve as the people and witnesses he has been relying on before now might disappear before he has the chance to ask them about any further leads he finds. So is there a human somehow behind everything or is the spirits actually angry and prepared to destory society just as their own homes were destroyed?

#3 goes to Team 5 Elements of DESIRE (+2 points)
Kari: This sounds like an amalgamation of anime references =P
Sera: Mmmm, this doesn’t really seem like what a WTC novel normally is. Not a bad idea for a novel though.
Vyse: Interesting idea. Sounds very anime.
#2 goes to Team Goldenslaughterers (+3 points)
Kari: NGL I’m a little bummed you didn’t come up with an entirely new awesome idea and concept ^^; But it is a very cool one.
Sera: Very well thought out. It feels about as complicated as Ryukishi would write it.
Vyse: You presented a good idea here, and with several layers to it as well.
#1 goes to Team SleepingVerborum and RKW Berris (+4 points)
Kari: This is fucking amazing xD
Sera: Nooooo… Not Breadu-sama! I actually literally laughed out loud for this. Well done.
Vyse: Good job on presenting such a humorous idea!
And while we’re here, let’s look at Team Goatdatricers’ late submission (+1 point):
Kari: Sounds like an interesting spin on the typical WTC formula.
Sera: This would be amazing to read. Definitely this is the one I feel most likely to actually be true
Vyse: It’s a shame that this was late, because I really love this idea! Personal favorite.
So thanks again for all your submissions!
