Well obvious endorsement hasn’t really happened either…
People have mostly said: Oh I’d rather Kill Rest than X.
Things like that.

Um, team allegiances are revealed on death right?
Yeah. This is still a Mafia game, a lot of stuff is still intact.
“X has died. They were Human/Witch. + Additionally, they were the Favoured Heir/Xth Family Alchemist.” if it applies, is how I’m planning to run them.
I feel like it’s important information to know if the Alchemist has changed. You won’t know who it changed to, but I think it will let people at least be aware certain trusts and allegiances formed in the thread can change the priorities of who is now likely to become the Family Head.
Ummm picto, I spoke above about my preference. I have no preference for death, so long as it isn’t mine.
Actually I probably shouldn’t say if the Heir dies. Keeps the suspicion up. I’ll only inform a change for the Alchemist.
Gak! How did I miss that! Alright thanks.
A lot of people have given my strategy the vague stamp of approval. Lot’s of “Oh well I don’t really care” or “I prefer it to these other things”.
One person actually said it was a good idea though. Without giving any petty platitudes. Someone who I expect much more from. Someone who would/should know how bad an idea it is to randomly kill a competent player.
By the way, did you know that magicisnoreal ?
noreal
Sorry in advance, but real life calls for my name and I can’t ignore it. I won’t be able to respond to the current situation until 3PM where I live.
That was a lot of drama for one line. You’re a true family head.
Oh hey would you look at that, I’m in the spotlight.
I had two main reasons for responding the way I did. One, because it was funny. I’m in a similar boat to you when it comes to Rest fucking things up (albeit only in Mafia) so I figured I might as well play along. Also I couldn’t not post the “without hatred” line, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Two, and much more seriously, random accusations like that are good on the first day. It forces people to actually talk, and if you happen to hit a witch you force their hand very early on. It creates an exchange of impressions, and the more posts there are, the more there is for the human side to analyze and draw conclusions from. I didn’t want you to execute Rest, I wanted Rest to make a post or two in the very situation of possible imminent death he was in at the time.
Are there any random accusations someone suspiciously does not endorse? Does someone slip up and make a post based on more information than humans could possibly have? Does any group of people appear to be talking in an unnaturally synched manner, as if they’d talked about what they were gonna post in private beforehand? All of these are questions we can possibly gleam answers to with this.
Early on in Mafia games in general one has the problem that some people don’t or hardly talk, giving you little to no information to go on, which is okay when you can vote No Death, but is extremely problematic in this particular game where the Head dies if he doesn’t choose someone, so No Death is not an option. Really, I’m surprised no one else seems to be doing this yet. With the general lack of investigative and protective roles, we aren’t gonna be in a much better position - information-wise - than we are now, ever, are we? So we really, really should already be gathering data and information on people.
It’s kind of the same reason I don’t think too highly of ‘meta’ in Secret Hitler. If you give people the opportunity to make decisions based on their true alignment, then the decisions they make might be based on their true alignment and you might be able to pick up on that. Whereas if you just enforce a set of rules, you may limit their practical options, but they can simply play and see what happens without drawing a single speck of suspicion on then. I encourage getting as many people as possible to make as many statements as possible that could possibly be colored by them being actually a witch. (Which is also why I tried to immediately turn the RNG Blackrune accusation into Blackrune having to make a defensive statement about themselves)
May have gone on a tangent at the end there, but I hope I got my reasons across.
Cool. Killing you now. I was running the exact strategy you claim to be running although I actually have proof, unlike you. You’re the best lead I have.
Unless…
You have a better idea of who I should kill? Hit me Detective Mage. I want you to give me your best. What have you gleamed from what the others have said? Who should be killed?
So it is accuse someone else or be killed myself, huh? Well that’s a slippery slope I don’t really want to go down, because honestly, I have had neither the time nor effort investment to really analyze people’s posts yet. I just got up, unlocked your letter, skimmed the topic and wrote a reply. Maybe I’ll have more to bring to the table in an hour or two.
Instead for now I’ll just say, don’t kill me. It’s always frustrating to try to set things up to gather information and then be eliminated before you can do anything with it Xx
We have around 31 hours. I have plenty of lee-way for setting you time limits.
5 hours? Is that a good deadline? If you haven’t convinced me to kill anyone else in 5 hours then I’ll kill you. Sound good?
Pictoshark will Execute @Karifean at 19:00 BST unless he convinces him to Execute a different target instead.
No, that sounds pretty horrible, actually. If we have around 31 hours, that’s 26 hours you’re cutting out of potential information gaining. I’m also seriously not a fan of this whole “I’ll kill you” business. Is this seriously what I get for trying to get the information ball rolling? Goddamnit picto.
Well, we’ve got to put on a good show! C’mon! It’ll be fine! You’re Karifean! The Detective Mage!
The yellow only said that I’ll execute at 19:00 BST if you don’t convince me. It made no such claim for the time of execution if you convince me to kill someone else.
Consider it motivation!
If you don’t want the time to be wasted then you better figure out who one of the Witches are!
I also genuinely should be going to university right about now and work on my BT for 4-ish hours so this time limit is pretty damn inconvenient for me on the meta level. If this is how I get eliminated from this game I’m so mad.
Fine a compromise:
**Pictoshark will Execute @Karifean at 19:00 BRST unless he convinces him to Execute a different target instead.**
There, that gives you 2 more hours.
Use them well.
Not much to say besides wanting to smack @Rabla for retconning the ruleset 130 something posts in. I may be missing something though since I am not feeling well, but oh well. Shit happens.
